IMG Academy tames the Prestonwood Christian Lions with 10 touchdown performance, 69-34 | IMG Academy

IMG Academy WR KJ Osborn’s three catches for 101 yards and 3 TDs set the program record for receiving touchdowns in a game against Prestonwood Christian in a 69-34 blowout victory.
The IMG Academy Ascenders football team (1-1) traveled more than 1,100 miles to take on the Prestonwood Christian Lions (1-1) of Plano, Texas on Friday in what would be a high-scoring affair. QB Deondre Francois (Orlando, Fla.), a Florida State commit, connected with WR KJ Osborn (Ypsilanti, Mich.) for three of his four touchdown passes on the night, and RB Taven Birdow (Altus, Okla.) rumbled for three rushing scores as they led the Ascenders offense to a program scoring record, crushing the Lions, 69-36.

Prestonwood QB Ryan Cash dialed up more than 600 yards in the high-powered Lions offense, but it simply was not enough to overcome the Ascenders’ record-setting offensive onslaught. Francois’ four touchdown passes on the night set the program record for touchdown passes in a game, with Texas native Brayden Beard catching one of the four scores in the third quarter. Osborn’s three TD grabs were also a program record. Running back Birdow’s three rushing touchdowns tied the program record for rushing touchdowns in a game. However, it was an explosive night for the running game all-around, with RB Jack Wegher (Dakota Dunes, S.D.) finding paydirt twice, along with RB Tony Jones (St. Petersburg, Fla.) putting the exclamation point on the Ascenders’ big night with a 68-yard scamper with 3:28 remaining in the game. Overall, theIMG Academy rushing attack ran up 442 yards on the ground, averaging 12.4 yards per carry and six touchdowns.Defensively, Austin Sullins (Casper, Wyo.) and K.J. Osborn each pulled down an interception apiece, and Mike Scott (Port Murray, N.J.) recorded a sack. Senior co-captain, LB Nick Thomas, led the team in tackles with 13 (9 solo, 4 ast) on the night, with Reid Miller (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) not far behind with 12 tackles (10 solo, 2 ast). The Ascenders will return to action at IMG Academy Stadium on Friday, Sept. 12 to take on Ft.
